This website once hosted the blogs “Flailing in the Surf” and “ZeroCostComputing”. Having lost all of my archives during a hack a number of years ago, I chose a new title for my blog “Don’t forget your shovel” inspired by a line in the JCB song.
Clevergirl is my online personna and space. I am a woman of many colours, but I’m usually wearing black. Started during my PhD studies, this blog is about my academic work and whatever else suits my fancy. Please come, view, and enjoy it. And if you’re a hacker, a spamer, or an all around jerk, please leave it alone!

hey I think i saw ur comments on an allergy-health thread on a blog by allergyGirl, so i linked over to this blog, looks cool…i’m currently working on my masters here in frigid rochester, just South of ur much-more-frigid-nation of ohCanada, hah i know it’s tons colder up there but I previously lived in Louisiana & California, so this is reeeeeeally cold. Anyhoo i wanted to ask u some academic-teaching questions, as i’d read some comments u’d made re: academia, etc., primarily wondering about advice involving teaching careers, but didn’t know where i should post my questions/comments [i didn't see an email address so i just decided to use this "about" page]. Btw, i’m old enough to have been in undergraduate school bak in the day when Talking Heads were only played on college radio–yeah they finally reached Mtv & got a bit famous;-), well, p3ace, Rob
