“This indecisions bugging me
Esta undecision me molesta
If you dont want me, set me free
Si no me quieres, librame
Exactly whom Im supposed to be
Diga me que tengo ser
Dont you know which clothes even fit me?
saves que robas me querda?
Come on and let me know
Me tienes que desir
Should I cool it or should I blow?
me debo ir o quedarme? ”
– The Clash.
So yeah, the question is, should I stay in Ottawa this weekend or should I dash down to TO to check out the new ‘vogs? Not only are there some lovely new boots for fall, but how can I go on living without these babies????
It’s always tease, tease, tease.

So, I stopped by the ‘vog shop on Queen Street yesterday, just ’cause I was in TO and had to check it out. I picked up a couple new heels for my Angels, phew because they’ve discontinued the only pair my AAA feet can wear,… which I’ll get put on them by a shoemaker here on the end of the earth where nothing is available, but everything can be fixed.
The Cherry-coloured Oolongs are on sale, too, but the TO store didn’t have my size. If you buy them by mail-order you can return them and get credit but only with the specific store which sent them to you. Sigh. Montréal had 3 pairs of 7 1/2 Cherry Oolongs yesterday, but really the 8 that I tried on in TO was really very big. Perhaps I’m a 7?

So, I wasn’t in the ‘vog shop for longer than say 15 minutes and I had 45 minutes left on the meter, so I walked over to Pages for a bit. Stopped myself from buying books because I currently have two on the go and wondered outside.
Looking across the street I saw a store called Change. (aka Change of Scandinavia as it turned out) They were selling bras ‘n things for women. This is actually a major preoccupation of mine because I’m a special size and unless I want to spend $120 on a single bra, I usually buy mine in the US. Seriously. I don’t understand for the life of me why The Bay, Sears, et. al. don’t carry bras in a more diverse range of sizes. It’s not just the super-rich who need a good fitting bra! Indeed, in the US, I buy them in everyday department stores, so why can’t ours do the same? I digress…
So, I wondered into change and boldly said to the woman behind the counter, “Do you carry odd sizes?” She said, “Sure we do. We have them all A through J” Pretty soon, she was measuring me out and giving me a couple to try on. After a few I asked how much they were and was ecstatic to find out that they were cost-friendly. Not cheap cheap, but good quality, well fitting, and between $45-$60 each. Not bad at all compared to $120.
By now, I was running out of time on the meter… but they had a buy 2 get the third free deal, so I persisted. Settled on two. Got a third for free.
Yay.
Of course, they don’t have a store in Ottawa, either.
I mean, why would they? No one else does!

British Columbia’s Finance Minister delivered her budget in a pair of green Fluevogs (from the tea pot collection, nonetheless!)

* I played with an iPhone on the weekend. I was right. I want one.
* I have solved the mystery of the heat in my oven. When it is set to 350ºC, it is really 450ºC. So, if you put the dial on just over 250ºC, it is really 350ºC. I will now stop burning everything.
(oh, & btw, one of these is presently in the oven).
* There’s a cool show on CBC show Ideas today & tomorrow called, “The Trouble With Tolerance” Check it out if you have some time. I just heard the first half while getting the point above sorted out and I thought it was good listening (well, nothing new for those of us who listen to this topic a lot).
*I was hoping to have something to say about a book I’m reading, but I didn’t quite finish it this weekend, since i was playing with a wee friend on the train yesterday… so you’ll just have to wait of that.
*I ate some good eats with some good friends yesterday for lunch and some great Lithuanian celebratory eats at a wedding Saturday night. And the rest of you plain old missed out!
*OH… & I tried on every Fluevog I’ve been dreaming of for months, except for the pink/maroon Katrin boots … and can report that none of them fit me properly
although those Oolong shoes (in cherry) really kick ass. I was so discouraged that I saw but did not try these mirabelles on in black although I’m fairly sure that they might fit me. Woe to be a AAA!
*Last but not least, you heard about Ingmar Bergman, right?!

I want a pair of the new 11th Hour lately ‘vogs… in bright red of course. modvog fiats in black look cool, too. And I’ve yet to fulfill my fantasies about these!
*sigh*
woe is me I live in Ottawa now & Can’t run down to the store and try ‘em all on whenever I want. (And yes people, I am the policy-wonk who wears these babies to work nearly every day).

I love my shoes & boots. So much so that during a recent household shuffle (from summer to fall fashion), Ma gathered up the shoes I’ve got at the entrances and counted 9 pairs. Hey, a girl’s got to have a pair for every outfit, dontcha know? In today’s G&M style section, they are featuring women’s knee-high fall/winter boots. 1 or 2 pairs shown are nice, but they are outrageously conventional, dull, and outlandishly costly. But even more shocking is their omission of the mighty ‘vog. You are not wearing shoes, let alone boots, until you have your ‘vogs on.
(anyone who knows me, knows that I like my boots… but especially my ‘vogs (boots & shoes))
and no… I was not paid to blog this.

Aside from the elevators, where people always talk to you, the best place in OISE is a women’s bathroom. In July, 2002, on my first day at OISE it was a female professor in a women’s bathroom who told me that if I didn’t like the section of the course I was enrolled in, I could try this other prof’s. I went the next day and never looked back. Yes, if it hadn’t been for the women’s bathroom… no blogging.
Today I hobbled into the women’s bathroom with one shoe off because it was rubbing (most strange as I was wearing my favourite ‘vogs). Anyway, I asked the first woman in there if she had a bandaid. And she did. And she very kindly gave me one. And the pain in my heel went away. And i could walk almost normally for the rest of the day.
so yeah… no place like it at OISE. Too bad for the males.
